TAMPA, Fla. – On Tuesday, competition at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association's Open Fleet Race National Championship kicked off as teams were able to complete six total races. Through one day of racing, the Big Green sit in second overall, having posted 38 total points.
The Big Green's A Division has scored 24 total points, third best of the 18-team field, while the B Division has 14 points thus far, fifth best overall.
The A Division sailed in four of the six total races on Tuesday, finishing in the top ten in each. The Big Green opened the day with eighth and fifth place finishes before earning the win in their third race. They sailed to a tenth-place overall finish in their fourth and final race of the day.
The B Division sailed in two races, also claiming top ten finishes in each. They finished tenth overall in their first race before finishing fourth in their second.
Storms in the area cut racing short, Tuesday, as teams were only able to get six races in. Action in semifinal sailing will continue on Wednesday, as the top nine teams from each division will advance to championship sailing.
The Big Green's 38 total points is good for second overall, 22 points behind first place Harvard and four points ahead third place St. Mary's.
