TAMPA, Fla. – Dartmouth's open sailing team kicked off championship sailing in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association's Open Fleet Race Championship, Thursday, posting 132 total points to sit in ninth place.
The Big Green posted 62 A Division points, the fifth best score, and 70 B Division points through 16 combined races.
Dartmouth's A Division sailed to six top ten finishes across their eight total races, Thursday, opening the day with a third-place overall finish. They finished in the top ten in their next five straight races, including earning the top finish in their fifth race.
The B Division finished in the top ten in seven of their eight total races. They finished 15th to start the day, before finishing their next seven races in the top ten. Their best finish was fifth overall, reaching the feat in their seventh race.
Dartmouth is in a tight race for this year's national championship, as only 32 points separate first place Brown and the Big Green in ninth. Dartmouth currently sits 19 points out of the podium.
