NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Dartmouth men's soccer team battled Merrimack to a 0-0 draw on Friday, Sept. 11, at Martone-Mejail Field, with the Big Green defense holding firm for a full 90 minutes on the road.
TJ Jeffreys started in net for the Big Green, facing six shot attempts and posting a clean sheet behind a defense that held Merrimack off the scoresheet.
"I was proud of our effort tonight," said Connor Klekota, the Bobby Clark Head Coach of Men's Soccer. "We expected it could be a little hectic in the first half on the narrow field and knew it may take more time for the game to settle. In the second half I felt we were knocking on the door, but it was one of those nights where we were unable to put together the final piece. To get a clean sheet on the road is good for the group and we'll look to keep growing tomorrow at training."
Dartmouth's best chance came in the 13th minute, when Panagiotis Karagiorgis drove a shot toward the bottom right corner, only to be denied by the Merrimack goalkeeper. Noah Sams had also tested the Warriors early, sending a shot just wide in the sixth minute. Late in the second half, Alexis Huneau nearly broke the deadlock off a Dartmouth corner, sending a shot over the bar in the 83rd minute.
Dartmouth pushed for a late winner that never came, which saw the match end in a 0-0 tie.
