HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth volleyball team picked up a hard-fought 3-1 win over Quinnipiac on Saturday at Leede Arena, taking the match 25-22, 25-22, 25-27, and 25-20. First-Year Clementine Tebbe led the Big Green defensively, tallying a program-record 14 total blocks against the Bobcats. The Big Green improve to 4-4 on the season, while Quinnipiac falls to 1-9.

Elle McCreery turned in the best night of anyone on the floor, hitting an efficient .579 with 13 kills, four service aces and three total blocks for a match-high 19.0 points. Zori Brown was right behind her with 14 kills, three aces and a team-high 10 digs for 18.0 points. Riley Imamura added seven kills and four digs, Julia York chipped in 17 assists and four total blocks, and Sophia Gagnepain ran the offense with a match-high 22 assists. Sloan Balsley paced the Dartmouth defense with nine digs. Tebbe turned in a career night of her own, setting a career high with eight digs to go along with seven kills and a program-record setting 14 total blocks. Dartmouth out-hit Quinnipiac .252 to .094 for the match and held a decisive edge at the net, out-blocking the Bobcats 18-7.

The first set was tight from start to finish, with the two teams tying the score 10 different times. Quinnipiac grabbed the first two points on a Vittoria Tonelli kill and a Sophia Gisslen ace, and the set stayed within a point or two the rest of the way — Cekic and Gagnepain traded points with Quinnipiac's Negron Diaz and Tonelli through the middle stages, with the score tied at 10, 11, 12 and 14. Quinnipiac built its largest cushion of the set at 19-18 behind an Asia Belli ace, but Dartmouth answered immediately, tying it right back at 19 and again at 20 before closing out the set on a decisive 5-1 run. McCreery served an ace and added a kill during the stretch, Imamura and Tebbe each chipped in kills off the block, and Dartmouth sealed it, 25-22.

Quinnipiac carried momentum into the second, jumping out to a 5-3 lead behind kills from Ozbiltekin and Tonelli. Dartmouth stayed patient, chipping away behind McCreery — who scored on back-to-back Quinnipiac attack errors and an ace to make it 16-19 — before the set tightened into a back-and-forth finish. The teams traded points down the stretch, tying it at 20 on a McCreery ace, before Dartmouth closed on a decisive run: Imamura scored off a York set, Balsley forced an attack error, and McCreery capped it with a kill to seal a 25-22 win and a 2-0 match lead.

Quinnipiac finally found its footing in the third, breaking away early behind Giulia Ragusa and Klara Jadwiga Olszewska to build an 11-5 cushion. Dartmouth chipped away throughout the middle of the set — Imamura and McCreery traded kills to pull within one at 13-13, and Gagnepain and Brown kept the Big Green within a point or two the rest of the way — but Quinnipiac stayed a step ahead. The set turned into the match's most dramatic finish: the two teams traded points all the way to 24-24 and 25-25, with York and Makasci combining on a block to save one match point, before Quinnipiac finally converted on a Sila Yildiz kill to take the set, 27-25, and cut Dartmouth's match lead to 2-1.

Dartmouth took firm control in the fourth to close out the match. The set was tied 12 different times as both squads traded runs. The set stayed deadlocked into the teens, with the score tied at 16, 17, 18 and 19, before Dartmouth finally seized control for good. A Brown service ace tied it at 19, and the Big Green ripped off a 6-1 closing run. helped by back-to-back attack errors forced at the net and a kill from Maddie LaFata, to close out the match, 25-20.
