Men’s Soccer Downs No. 18 Princeton 1-0 for Their Second Straight Nationally Ranked Win

HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth men's soccer put in a full 90 minutes of work to down No. 18 Princeton for their second straight win over a nationally ranked opponent. A goal from Eidur Baldvinsson, combined with a stingy defensive effort, powered the Big Green past the Tigers 1-0 at Burnham Field.

Dartmouth improves to 3-3-1 (1-0-0 Ivy) while Princeton falls to 5-2-2 (0-0-1 Ivy) in the opening game of conference play for both sides.

The first 45 minutes were scoreless, played in front of another raucous crowd of 1,066 fans, who were treated to another strong performance from Dartmouth.

After Princeton controlled much of the second half, Dartmouth was able to right the ship and turn the momentum in their favor.

Defensively, the back line was able to stifle much of Princeton's offensive attack. In the 67th minute, TJ Jeffreys made an exceptional save to preserve the clean sheet. Overall, Jeffreys made five saves in the game while notching his third clean sheet of the season.

The Big Green were knocking on the door and capitalized on their moment. A through ball found a streaking Baldvinsson, who did the rest and calmly deposited the ball into the back of the net, putting Dartmouth in front. Baldvinsson tallied his second goal of the season in as many games.

Dartmouth scored in the 84th minute of play and was able to hold on from there to win their Ivy League opener. As a team, the Big Green fired 10 total shots, keeping the Tigers' back line on its heels.
Tonight marked the first time Princeton has been scored on in Ivy League play since the 2024 season.

Additionally, Dartmouth has beaten a nationally ranked opponent in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2010 season. In the 2010 season, Dartmouth defeated No. 20 Monmouth and No. 9 Notre Dame during the NCAA tournament.
