Men's Heavyweight Rowing
at Head of the Charles
1. Where are you from and whom did you row for prior to Dartmouth?
I’m from New Canaan, Connecticut but I went to Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. After switching from lacrosse, I rowed for Deerfield during my junior and senior years. When I showed up for practice on the first day of preseason all my coach said was, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat.”
2. Why did you choose Dartmouth and the Dartmouth Rowing Program?
I chose Dartmouth because of its strong academic reputation and picturesque location. The rowing program was particularly attractive due to the Connecticut River. I’ve rowed all over New England and I still think our water and scenery are the best around. And as I learned over sophomore summer, the river is also great for recreation. I have enjoyed canoeing, boating, waterskiing and wakeboarding on the Connecticut.
3. What do you participate in at Dartmouth, apart from rowing?
I tutor in statistics.
4. Tell me something about yourself that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
I have seen all 180 episodes of Seinfeld and consider myself an expert on the subject.
5. What is your best memory from rowing at Dartmouth so far?
During a spring row my sunglasses fell off my head and into the river. Without any hesitation I dove out of the boat and miraculously found them before they sunk. Winning our heat at sprints was pretty cool too.
6. What are your plans for the future?
A career on Wall Street.
