NEW ASSISTANT COACH AT DARTMOUTH
On May 11, 2026, head coach Brett MacConnell announced the addition of Nichay to the Dartmouth men's basketball staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season. Nichay arrived in Hanover after 14 seasons at Franklin & Marshall, the final seven as head coach of the Diplomats.
HEAD COACHING TENURE AT FRANKLIN & MARSHALL
Nichay was elevated to head coach of the Diplomats in the spring of 2020 after serving as interim head coach during the 2019-20 season. Under his leadership, Franklin & Marshall won 96 games, posted three consecutive 20-win seasons and returned to national prominence with back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2024-25 and 2025-26, the program's first consecutive tournament trips since a four-peat from 2009-12.
The 2024-25 season produced a Centennial Conference Championship after an 11-2 regular-season mark, capped by a 60-47 win over Johns Hopkins in the conference title game, and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Nichay and his staff were named Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2023-24 and 2024-25. The Diplomats' defenses ranked top 10 nationally in each of his final two seasons.
ASSISTANT COACHING BEGINNINGS
Nichay joined Franklin & Marshall as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in September 2012 under Hall of Fame head coach Glenn Robinson, helping the Diplomats to a 156-61 record over eight seasons, including an NCAA Tournament appearance and Sweet 16 run in 2017-18. Before arriving at F&M, he spent two seasons (2010-12) as an assistant at Le Moyne College, helping build the roster that reached the 2014 NCAA Tournament, and one season (2009-10) as a Division III assistant at Hartwick College, where he helped recruit the program's all-time leading scorer and rebounder.
A native of New Jersey, Nichay began his career in the sport as a student manager at his alma mater, Rutgers. He graduated from Rutgers in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in sport management, serving as the men's basketball program's head manager during his senior year. Nichay served as a manager with MacConnell during his time at Rutgers.

Across his 14 years on the Franklin & Marshall bench, Nichay helped coach 30 All-Centennial Conference selections, including 10 First Team honorees, three Centennial Conference Players of the Year, three NABC All-Americans and three Academic All-Americans. Twice he helped recruit and coach the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year, including 2015 honoree Brandon Federici, who went on to break the conference's career scoring record with 2,072 points and earn Centennial Conference Player of the Year, NABC All-America and College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors.
