The 2019-20 athletic season kicked off last week with the men's cross country team as well as the women's soccer team starting off with wins. Senior Quinn Cooney earned a first-place finish in the annual Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. Freshman Alli Winstanley is making her mark early for the women's soccer team with two goals and an assist to start her Big Green career.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.

Quinn Cooney, Senior, Chelmsford, Mass.

The senior won the season-opening 2019 Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational Saturday morning at the Hanover Country Club. Cooney ran a 24:40 on the 8K course to capture the event win for the second time in his career after also winning the team's home meet as a freshman in 2016. Led by Cooney's first-place finish, the Big Green men's team posted 18 points and ran away with the victory, taking the crown at this meet for the sixth-straight season.
