HANOVER, N.H. — It was a stellar week at the NCAA Championships for the Dartmouth ski team, highlighted by two national champions, John Steel Hagenbuch in the 7.5k men’s freestyle and Jasmine Drolet and the women’s 20k classic, respectively. Both were first team All-Americans in each of their two events.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athlete – one male, one female – as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Jasmine Drolet, Jr., Rossland, British Columbia, Women’s Skiing
Like Hagenbuch, Drolet won an individual national championship in one event, while also earning first team All-America distinction in the other. She began with a third-place finish in the women’s 7.5k freestyle on Thursday, then posted a memorable come-from-behind victory in the women’s 20k classic on Saturday. Drolet came back from fourth place with less than one thousand meters to go. At the finish, her time was 1:02.38.2, more than three seconds ahead of Vermont's Haley Brewster in second (1:02:41.5). Drolet is now a three-time first team All-American, after second team All-America distinction in the 20k classic last season (when she came in eighth).
