First-year Sam Andersen dominated at the plate this week, posting a .363 batting average across four games, helping Dartmouth to a 3-1 record on the week. In Dartmouth’s midweek win over Merrimack, Andersen scored the game-tying run in the fifth before knocking in the game winning run in the sixth, as the Big Green defeated the Warriors, 4-3.
In the weekend series vs. Manhattan, Andersen posted a .375 average at the plate, raking three triples. In game one, Andersen tripled in the fifth to pull the Big Green within two runs. In game two, Andersen was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded, forcing in the eventual game winning run. He also scored a run in the same inning and hit his second triple of the weekend in the next inning. In the series finale, Andersen recorded his third triple of the weekend and drove in the game winning run in the 1-0 victory. Andersen now ranks second overall on the team with 16 RBI, leading the first-year class.
