Baseball has Three Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Tuesday, College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its baseball academic all-district honorees, recognizing three members of the Big Green.
Seniors Nico Bañez, Milo Suarez, and junior Trey Sejnoha each earned the honor for their contributions on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a 3.50 GPA. Position players must start 66% or play in 90% of the team's games, while pitchers must have made 17 appearances or pitched 35 total innings.
Bañez, a government major, played in all but one of Dartmouth's games in his senior campaign. He posted a .239 batting average, tallying 32 total hits for second best on the team. Additionally, Bañez led the Big Green with 28 walks and 14 hit by pitches, making his 41 total free bases the most in the Ivy League.
He went 2-for-4 in his first game of the season, scoring a run and driving in two RBI. Three games later, Bañez went 2-for-4 against Grambling State, driving in another two runs and scoring two more. His best performance in Ivy League play was the 15-0 rout of the Cornell Big red, as Bañez went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Suarez, an economics major, posted his best season in green, sitting at the top of Dartmouth's offensive categories. His .264 batting average ranked second best on the team, while he led the Big Green with 11 doubles, four home runs, and 20 RBI.
The senior recorded multi-hit games in two appearances ahead of Ivy League play, recording two hits at Navy and three at Bryant, including driving in three runs against the Bulldogs. Suarez impressed in the win over Cornell, going 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in two, including hitting his first homerun of the season. He also had strong offensive outings against Brown, in the Harvard series, and in the series opener at Yale, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs, three RBI and a home run.
Finally, Sejnoha, the junior economics major was dominant out of the bullpen, posting a 4.34 earned run average in 16 total appearances, leading the relievers with 37.1 innings pitched and 46 total strikeouts. His four total wins was also tied for the team lead.
Sejnoha started the season with four innings of one-run baseball against FDU, fanning a career high six batters. He also tossed 3.2 scoreless innings at Navy, allowing only one hit and adding five strikeouts. Sejnoha's best Ivy League outing was at Cornell, giving up two runs in 5.2 innings of work. He closed out the season with three straight scoreless outings, combining for five hits across eight innings.
