HANOVER, N.H. - Senior Brian McCarthy won two events, leading the Dartmouth men's track & field team to victory over New Hampshire and Vermont on Saturday afternoon.
The Big Green scored 156 points, and UNH had 138. Vermont earned 53 in the meet that used a new scoring system. Points were awarded for the top six places, but only two competitors per school could earn points.
McCarthy won his specialty, the high jump, clearing 6-8, and he doubled in the triple jump with 41-7 3/4.
Senior Thomas Quinn led a 1-2-3 sweep in the mile with an IC4A qualifying time of 4:11.24, and freshman Mike Carmody won the 1,000, also qualifying for the IC4As with 2:28.78.
Other victories for Dartmouth came in the 60 meter dash where freshman Brian Evans won easily with 7.09, and the 500 meters where freshman Charlie Stoebe posted 1:06.14.

Senior Noah Kaufman won the 3000 in 8:39.27, and freshman Derrick Vinklarek cleared 14-0 1/2 in the pole vault. Seniors Matt Brown (52-5 1/4 in the shot put) and Mike Mozer (54-2 3/4 in the weight) were first while Dartmouth picked up winning points in both the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.
On Saturday, January 22, the Big Green hosts Yale and Columbia at 12 noon in Leverone Field House.
On the women's side, Dartmouth senior Tessa Clare was a double winner for the Big Green track & field team that defeated New Hampshire and Vermont on Saturday afternoon.
Clare won the 200 meter dash in 27.08 and then high jumped 5-2 1/4.
Dartmouth combined for 156 points. New Hampshire was second with 97 and UVM third with 91. In a new scoring system, points were awarded for the top six places, but only two competitors per school could score.
Dartmouth junior Megan Olds led a 1-2-3 sweep in the mile with a time of 5:12.18, and freshman Robin Bankert won the 500 meters in 1:19.67. Seniors Betsy Williamson (2:23.06 in the 800), Lili Peacock-Villada (2:59.10 in the 1000) and Jillian Mastroianni (10:27.23 in the 3000) also placed first for the Big Green.
Dartmouth also had victories in the pole vault where sophomore Lilly Bertz topped 11-6 1/4 and the long jump where freshman Micaela Carwell posted 16-10. In the triple jump, freshman Cassandre Tanner was first with 35-1 1/4, and freshman Jessica Long was tops in the shot put at 39-0 1/2.
The Big Green won its 12th event on the afternoon in the 4 x 400 relay.
Dartmouth returns to action on Saturday, January 22, taking on Yale and Columbia at 12 noon in Leverone Field House.
