Dartmouth Men's Hockey Loses Second Game of Weekend

NORTHFORD, Conn. - The Dartmouth men's hockey team dropped its second game of the weekend, losing 7-5 to Quinnipiac on Saturday night at Northford Ice Pavilion.
Tanner Glass and Sean Offers were both multiple-point scorers for Dartmouth.
Dartmouth is now 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the league while the Bobcats improved to 8-2, 2-0 ECACHL.
Three power play goals highlighted the first period of play. The Big Green struck first at 6:42. An attempted clear by Quinnipiac was intercepted by Offers (St. Alberta, Alta.) who passed high to Glass (Craven, Sask.) for the first strike. Then another power play goal by Dartmouth at 10:17 gave the Big Green a 2-0 lead. Offers had the initial shot on goal as the bounce ended up in front of Eric Przepiorka (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) for the senior's second goal of the season.
The Bobcats lit the lamp at 12:03 as Quinnipiac won the faceoff on the power play and Brian Leitch scored on a point blank shot.
The Bobcats tied things up at 15:58 in the second when on a delayed penalty to Dartmouth, Andrew Meyer shot through traffic to find the back of the net. The Big Green pulled ahead, 3-2, on the first even strength goal of the game.
Grant Lewis (Upper St. Clair, Pa.) took a shot from the point that was tipped in by
Nick Johnson (Calgary, Alta.). Another tying goal by Quinnipiac at 10:27 knotted the game at 3-apiece.
The Bobcats went ahead again after Dartmouth was called for delay of game at 5:54. Quinnipiac won the faceoff and Mark Van Vliet capitalized on the fourth power play goal of the contest. The home team struck again with less than four minutes to go in the stanza as the Bobcats took its biggest lead of the game, 5-3. The goal by Jamie Bates chased Dartmouth's starting goalie Sean Samuel (Mississiauga, Ont.) from the nets.
Dartmouth got one back on its fourth power play strike with 1:46 left in the period. Initial shot by Offers on the point had the rebound bouncing out to
David Jones (North Vancouver, B.C.). Mike Ouellette (Kamloops, B.C.) also picked up an assist on the play.
The Big Green started the third period of the game down two men. With Przepiorka in the box Dartmouth was whistled for a bench protocol violation. The Big Green killed off Przepiorka's penalty but with five seconds left in the second penalty OO scored to give the Bobcats back its two-goal cushion. Another power play goal by Quinnipiac with 5:02 left gave Quinnipiac a 7-4 lead but Dartmouth got one back less than a minute later when Glass passed across to
J.T. Wyman (Wayzata, Minn.) Przepiorka also assisted.
The loss marks the first time the Big Green has been swept in a league weekend since 2002-03 and it's the first time in
Bob Gaudet's Dartmouth coaching career that the Big Green has started the season 0-3.
The Big Green will be back in action next weekend when it hosts its first home games of 2005-06. Colgate will be Thompson Arena on Friday at 7:00 pm with Cornell coming in on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
