Dartmouth Men's Hockey Loses to Boston University, 5-1

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's hockey team played its first nonconference game of the season losing to Boston University, 5-1, tonight in Thompson Arena. BU's Brandon Zancanaro led the charge with one goal and two assists.
BU improves to 6-7-2 while Dartmouth falls to 4-6-0.
The Terriers got on the board first with a power play strike from Zancanaro at 15:21 in the first stanza. John Laliberte passed in front of the net to a waiting Zancanaro who went top shelf on Dartmouth netminder
Sean Samuel. Jason Lawrence also picked up an assist.
The Terriers added another one eight minutes into the second period. An even-strength tally by Brandon Yip gave BU a 2-0 lead. The goal was the freshman's fourth goal of the season. Pete MacArthur and Chris Higgins were credited with the assists.
BU exploded for three goals in the third before the Big Green got on the board. Two even-strength goals and a short handed tally gave the Terriers a 5-0 lead before Dartmouth's
Tanner Glass (Craven, Sask.) ended the shutout.
Mike Hartwick (Beford, N.H.) played the puck from the blue line passing to
J.T. Wyman (Wayzata, Minn.). Wyman went streaking towards the net passing at the last minute to a waiting Glass for the junior's fourth goal of the year. For BU, Lawrence, Brian McGuirk and Yip were credited with the third period goals.
Samuel was chased from the Dartmouth nets at 8:09 left in the game when McGuirk scored. Freshman
Dan Goulding came on in relief for his first collegiate action. Goulding gave up the final BU goal to Yip and finished with two saves in the stanza. Samuel got the loss and is 1-3 on the year. He finished with 15 saves. The Terrier's Karson Gillespie was just shy of his second career shutout, earning his second win of the season. He finished with 40 saves.
Dartmouth controlled play most of the game, outshooting BU 41-22. Both teams had plenty of power play chances as the Big Green went 1-for-7 while the Terriers were 1-for-6. Dartmouth is now 1-3 when having 40 or more shots on goal and is 4-3 when outshooting its opponent.
The Big Green will be back in action on Sunday at 7:00 pm, traveling to UMass Lowell.
