Dartmouth Men's Hockey Drops 3-2 Decision to UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. - The Dartmouth men's hockey team lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to UMass Lowell tonight in Tsongas Arena. The River Hawks scored three first period goals and despite late scores by the Big Green held on for the win.
Lowell got on the board at 13:33 in the first period. Mark Roebothan was coming out of the box and picked up a misdirected Dartmouth feed. Big Green goalie
Sean Samuel (Mississauga, Ont.) made the initial save but Roebothan was there to get his own rebound for the goal.
A power play strike by the River Hawks at 8:22 gave Lowell a 2-0 lead. On the extra-man J.R. Bria directed a rebound out to Bobby Robins. Another UML goal just a minute later chased Samuel from the net. Robins recorded his second of the night as Samuel was whistled for a slashing call putting Dartmouth down a man.
Mike Devine (Orchard Park, N.Y.) came in to replace Samuel in goal.
The Big Green got one back at 6:54 in the second. Eric Przepiorka (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and
Tanner Glass (Craven, Sask.) had a two-on-one with Przepiorka shooting first. Lowell netminder Peter Vetri rebounded out to Glass who took a shot with Przepiorka waiting for the puck and the goal.
A power play tally by the Big Green at 13:04 in the third got Dartmouth back in the game.
David Jones (N. Vancouver, B.C.) passed from behind the left side of the net to Mike Ouellette (Kamloops, B.C.) for the point-blank wrister. Sean Offers (St. Albert, Alta.) also had an assist.
The Big Green had several chances late in the contest. With Devine pulled for the extra-man and Dartmouth on the power play for the final minute and twenty seconds the Big Green kept the puck in Lowell end but was unable to capitalize.
Grant Lewis (Upper St. Clair, Pa.) and Ouellette both had shots saved while Jarrett Sampson (Prince Albert, Sask.) and Offers had shots hit the post.
Devine finished the night with 16 saves for the Big Green while Vetri recorded 37 for the River Hawks. Dartmouth outshot Lowell, 39-22 and was 1-for-7 on the power play was UML went 2-for-2.
The loss drops Dartmouth to 4-7 on the season while Lowell improves to 5-10.
The Big Green will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 16 in a CSTV game against league rival, Harvard.
