BOSTON, Mass. -- In a high profile meet featuring Michigan, Georgetown, Texas and Duke, the Dartmouth men's track and field team had several top performances at the Boston University Terrier Classic.
Senior Ikechi Ogbonna (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Mike Carmody (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) took runner-up honors in their specialties. Obgonna had a career-best time of 7.54 in the 55 meter hurdles, and Carmody ran 1:51.30 in the 800, the fastest time in the Ivy League this season.
In the 5,000 meters, junior Alec Wall (Portland, Ore.) in 14:13.32 and senior Dave Burnham (Shelburne Falls, Mass.) in 14:14.53 posted the top two times among Ivy runners and also bettered the IC4A qualifying standard. Senior George McArdle (Brookline, Mass.) qualified for the IC4As in 14:32.55.
All four Dartmouth runners in the 3,000 meters clocked lifetime bests, led by senior Steve Mucchetti (Ridgefield, Conn.) in 8:10.33, also the best this season among Ivy Leaguers. Sophomore Owen Marcotte (Beau River, N.S.) lowered his PR by 11 seconds, qualifying for the IC4As in 8:22.66.
Sophomore Harry Norton (Exeter, N.H.) ran the Ivy League's best time this season in the mile with 4:07.75.
Sophomore Charlie Stoebe (Westport, Conn.) and junior Ricky Cedrone (Stoughton, Mass.) ran 1:04.98 and 1:05.09 in the 500, both personal bests and IC4A qualifying times.
Freshman Tim Wunderlich (Westminster, Md.) improved his PR to 14-0 in the pole vault. Junior Rob Kerris (Elysburg, Pa.) and freshman Milan Williams (Mobile, Ala.) were third in their events. Kerris threw 51-5 1/2 in the shot and Williams posted 43-9 1/4 in the triple jump.
