PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Dartmouth women's volleyball team lost its second match of the weekend, falling to Princeton in three games on Saturday afternoon in Jadwin Gym. The Tigers held the Big Green to a zero attack percentage over the first two games.
Dartmouth falls to 10-11, 4-7 in the Ivy League while the Tigers improve to 17-2 overall and 7-2 in the Ivy League with five matches to play. Saturday's win avenged one of Princeton's two losses of the season after the Tigers fell in Hanover, N.H., Oct. 6.
Princeton was able to win games one and two, 30-16 and 30-18, respectively, after the Big Green hit for as many errors as kills in those frames. The Tigers hit .262 in game one and a match-high .389 in game two. Nadine Parris and Sandy Barbut led the Big Green with eight kills apiece.
Dartmouth looked to be gaining some momentum in the third game, going up by five early but Princeton scored six straight points to take the lead. The Big Green continued to hang around as Princeton was never able to pull away during the stanza and fell behind as late as 26-24 before scoring six of the last eight points to win, 30-28.
Jess Thomas and Whitney Ward each had nine digs while Katie Hirsch was tops with 26 assists.
Dartmouth will be home next weekend honoring senior Parris as the Big Green hosts Columbia and Cornell.
