Box Score
HANOVER, N.H. - Sophomore Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) scored 16 points and added seven rebounds as the Dartmouth men's basketball team defeated Brown, 56-52, in Ivy action Friday night.
The Big Green (7-9 overall, 2-1 Ivy) held Brown to 36.1 percent from the floor. Also in double figures for Dartmouth was junior Johnathan Ball (Memphis, Tenn.) with 13 points along with a team-high eight rebounds.
In the final minute of the opening half, the Big Green used a layup by Ball and a jump shot by sophomore Kurt Graeber (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) for a 29-25 lead at the break.
Dartmouth's largest lead came at the midway point of the second half on Barnett's conventional 3-point play. That made it 46-37.
But with three minutes to go, Brown (6-12 overall, 1-2 Ivy) got within one, 48-47, on a pair of free throws by Mark McAndrew who had a game-high 25 on the night.
Dartmouth answered with a jumper by senior Leon Pattman (Memphis, Tenn.) and a layup by sophomore Dan Biber (Lorain, Ohio) to push the Big Green advantage back to five, 54-49, with 1:15 to play.
A pair of DeVon Mosley (Mesquite, Texas) free throws with nine seconds left iced the game for Dartmouth.
The Big Green returns to action on Saturday, January 27, hosting Yale at 7 p.m.
