HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth field hockey team took a 3-1 victory over visiting Davidson on Saturday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. The Wildcats got on the board first early in the contest but it was the Big Green that scored the next three to win its second game in a row.
Davidson jumped out quickly when Britti Himelfarb scored ten minutes in on an unassisted goal. Katy Hagy (Bedford, N.H.) knotted the game with less than three minutes to go in the first half. The senior got the ball at the left side of the cage, moving around a defender to the front scoring the tying goal.
Junior Ashley Hines (Newburyport, Mass.) potted Dartmouth's game winner less than a minute later off one of the Big Green's seven corners on the day. Megan Strout (St. Louis, Mo.) pushed the ball in with Stef Miller (South Plainfield, N.J.) there for the stop. Miller held the ball for Hines who scored her fifth goal of the season.
Allison Weinstock (Pittsburgh, Pa.) gave Dartmouth some insurance early in the second frame after a scramble in front of the net allowed the sophomore to find the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
Jordan Sedlacek (Golden, Colo.) was in net for the Big Green making seven saves on the day. Christa Goeke, in goal for Davidson also made seven saves. Dartmouth had the advantage in both shots and penalty corners as the Big Green outshot the Wildcats, 20-16 along with seven to Davidson's six penalty corners.
Dartmouth continues at home tomorrow with another nonconference game against Boston College. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
