Hanover, N.H. - Dartmouth men's soccer freshman back Bryan Giudicelli (Emerald Hills, Calif.) has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week and earned a spot on the 11-man Soccer America National Team of the Week.
This marks the third-straight week that a Dartmouth men's soccer player has been honored by the Ivy League and second-straight appearance on the Soccer America team by a Dartmouth player.
Giudicelli, who is just one of five players to start all 15 games and the only freshman, has been a staple in the Dartmouth back line this season. It was offense, however, that got him recognized as he scored his first collegiate goal with the gamewinner against Cornell on Saturday.
The rookie came up from the defensive third for a Dartmouth corner kick in the 25th minute and made a perfectly timed leap to catch a cross from senior Nick Christman (Falmouth, Mass.) for a header goal. The tally proved the difference maker as the Big Green took a critical 3-1 victory over the Big Red.
A Big Green player has been named Ivy player or rookie of the week six
times this season and Giudicelli is the fourth different player honored.
At 10-3-2, 4-0-1 Ivy, Dartmouth remains in the title hunt and heads to Brown for a critical showdown on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
