Dartmouth Ski Team Wins Fifth Straight Carnival
Williamstown, Mass. --The Dartmouth ski team improved to 5-0 on the
Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season after winning the
Williams College Winter Carnival Saturday. With 898 points, the Big
Green took top honors as the University of Vermont and Middlebury
College followed in second and third place with 843 and 806 points,
respectively.
After sweeping first through third place on Friday at the Prospect
Mountain Nordic Ski Center, the women's cross country team had a
repeat performance in the classic sprint heats. Junior
Elsa Sargent (Orleans, Vt.) led the way in first place giving her two first place finishes
on the weekend. Junior
Susan Dunklee (Barton, Vt.) and sophomore
Hannah Dreissigacker (Morrisville, Vt.) finished the day in second and
third place.
On the men's side freshman Patrick O'Brien (Putney, Vt.) had an
impressive outing placing second in the classic sprint heats. Junior Ben
True (North Yarmouth, Maine) and senior captain Mike Sinnott (Sun
Valley, Idaho) scored points for the Big Green in seventh and tenth place.
The men's alpine also had a great showing at Jiminy Peak. After placing
three racers in the top ten in Friday's giant slalom, the Big Green won the
men's slalom on Saturday as well. Senior captain David Chodounsky
(Crested Butte, Colo.) placed first with a time of 1:36.11. Senior Evan
Weiss (Kenmore, Wash.), who placed first in the giant slalom on Friday,
took fifth place in the slalom with a time of 1:38.78.
For the women's alpine team, senior Lindsay Mann (Bedford, Mass.)
finished in fifth place with a combined time of 1:45.08. Junior
Michelanne Shields (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placed eighth in the slalom
after finishing third in the giant slalom on Friday.
The undefeated Big Green will next compete at the final carnival of the
regular season next weekend at the Middlebury February 23-24.
