Dartmouth Winter Carnival Cross Country Races Moved to Stowe
Hanover, N.H. -- Poor snow conditions in Hanover have forced a
relocation of cross country races for this weekend's Dartmouth Winter
Carnival.
Races will now be held at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt. Friday
and Saturday, February 9 and 10. The women's 15-kilometer classical
technique race will begin at 10 a.m. Friday; the men's 20-kilometer
classical will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday's races include the
men's 3x10-kilometer freestyle relay at 9:30 a.m. and the women's 3x5-
kilometer freestyle relay at 10:45 a.m.
"The conditions have been improving here," said Dartmouth Director of
Skiing and women's cross country coach Cami Thompson. "But
unfortunately it hasn't improved enough and our course isn't up to
the standards we need for a collegiate race."
Alpine racing, meanwhile, will be held as scheduled at the Dartmouth
Skiway and will feature a two slalom format. The first men's and
women's slalom races will be held Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m.; the
second slalom will be contested Saturday beginning at 9:30.
