Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1
3/21/2007 12:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
The doubles point is always a key element to any big win and today was no exception as the Big Green won both the #1 and #2 doubles matches to clinch what turned out to be the key point.
In singles, five of the six matches went to three sets. Justin Tzou won the only two-set match, taking a 7-5, 6-3 victory at #4 singles. The critical matches turned out to be at #5 and #6 with both Steven McGaughey and Ari Gayer coming back to win in three sets.
McGaughey's was a match for the ages as he lost the first set, won the second 6-4 and went up 5-0 in the third set only to have to pull it out in a 7-1 tie break. Gayer, in the singles line up for the first time in a month, was the last man standing with the score 3-3 and pulled out the win at #6 to clinch the Dartmouth victory.
The Green is back in action on Saturday at Cal Poly.
