HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's tennis team opened its season on Friday, hosting Brown, Bryant and Fairfield at the Boss Tennis Center for the three-day Dartmouth Invite #1.
Day One (Friday)
Dartmouth began its opening weekend by taking five singles wins.
Adrian Treacy picked up his first collegiate win with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat over Bryant's Will Peligrini. Malhar Patel also earned his first career victory after besting Fairfield's Kostas Kollias in a 5-7, 6-1, 10-4 battle. Leo Pade came from behind to earn a 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory over Fairfield's Diego Alcala.
Miles Groom earned the first win of his senior season with a straight-set victory over Brown's James Lian. Denny Bao closed out opening day with a 6-1, 6-4 defeat over Fairfield's Calum Jessutt.
Day Two (Saturday)
The Big Green had six doubles wins through two rounds of play and two singles wins on the second day of action.
Groom and Pade opened the day with a 6-3 win over Fairfield. The pair took their second match of the day with a 6-4 victory over Bryant.
Bao and first-year Kornel Halmos earned a 6-3 victory over Bryant, which marked Halmos' first collegiate win. They later clinched their second match with a 7-5 win over Brown.
Treacy and Patel kept the momentum going with a 7-5 win against Fairfield. The duo went on to defeat Bryant, 6-3.
Halmos earned his first singles win over Brown's Noah Hernandez, 2-6, 6-3, 14-12.
Groom wrapped up the second day of the invite with a 6-2, 6-4 straight-set win over Bryant's Miguel Angel Machado.
Day Three (Sunday)
The Big Green closed out their weekend with four singles wins.
Calvin Wang grabbed the first win of the day with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 victory over Brown's Cole Oberg. Pade followed behind with a 7-6(3), 6-4 win over Brown's Theo Murphy. Bao defeated Fairfield's Alcala with a 6-0, 6-3 straight set. Halmos finished up the day with a 1-6, 6-3, 11-9 win over Bryant's Machado.
Dartmouth will continue its fall season on Saturday, Sept. 20, when it travels to Cambridge, Mass., for the week-long ITA All-American Championship.
