NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Dartmouth sailing team held a commanding first-day lead and went on to victory in the Thompson Trophy hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Big Green earned 95 points on Saturday and then posted a two-day total of 218, ahead of runner-up Boston College with 236. A total of 18 schools competed.
In A division, seniors
Erik Storck (Huntington, N.Y.) and
Killarney Loufek (Costa Mesa, Calif.) were first with 95 points. They won four of the 16 races contested.
In B division, senior Andrew Loe (New Orleans, La.) and freshman
Matthew Cohen (Milford, Conn.) were fifth with 123 points.
At the George Morris Regatta hosted by Boston University, Dartmouth was 15th among 18 schools.
