HANOVER, N.H - The Dartmouth women's volleyball team lost a three-set match to the league-leading Yale Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Leede Arena. The victory is Yale's ninth Ivy win of the season as the Bulldogs continue to hold the top spot in the league standings with a 15-4 overall record, 9-1 Ivy. The loss drops the Big Green to 7-13, 3-7.
The third set was the closest of the match as Yale won the first two sets easily, 25-19 and 25-13 with Dartmouth keeping the third close, 25-23.
In the first two sets the Bulldogs went up by large margins quickly as Yale hit .279 and .300 to start the match. In the third set the Big Green never allowed the Bulldogs to get more than two points ahead. With Kelsey Johnson (Carlsbad, Calif.) serving Dartmouth got within one at 9-10 before Yale again took a two-point lead. Megan MacGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) brought her team to 19-20 before Yale was forced to take a timeout. Morgan Covington (Katy, Texas) and Kendall Houston (Austin, Texas) had a tremendous block as Dartmouth held Yale from game point as Covington and Colleen Mita (Wayne, Pa.) recorded another block before Bridget Hearst killed for the final point.
Houston was tops with 18 assists while three Big Green players were in double-digits for digs, led by Amber Bryant (Libertyville, Ill.) with 14. Covington led both sides with five total blocks as each team recorded 10 blocks.
Dartmouth wraps up the home portion of its schedule next weekend, playing Princeton on Friday at 7:00 and Penn on Saturday at 4:00.
