PROVIDENCE, R.I. ? Dartmouth men's basketball suffered a league loss to Brown, 77-51, at Pizzitola Sports Center on Friday, Feb. 8.
The Big Green struggled early on/from the start, as Brown drove through the Dartmouth defense for lay-ups while the Green was often relegated to jump shots from outside. As the half went on, the Green could not keep up with the Bears, and Brown gradually extended their lead.
Going into halftime, Dartmouth trailed by 14, with the score set at 37-23. Brown's Mark McAndrew had an impressive first half, sinking two three-pointers and going 4-for-4 at the foul line. Dartmouth junior Kurt Graeber (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) led his team at halftime with eight points, his two slam dunks providing a few bright spots for Dartmouth.
As the game progressed into the second half, Dartmouth simply could not keep up with Brown. The Bears kept stretching the lead, and at the final buzzer, had put the Big Green away, 77-51.
Dartmouth junior Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) pulled down a game-high five rebounds and sank a team-high 10 points, a game-high total but for Brown's Mark McAndrew, who sank a staggering 25 points overall.
The loss puts the Big Green at 1-4 in the Ivy League and 8-11 overall. The Big Green will head to New Haven tonight to face Yale at 7:00 pm tomorrow.
