Entering the second and final round of the Dartmouth Invitational at Hanover Country Club with the overall lead, the Dartmouth women's golf team posted the second-best team score of the rain-soaked day. Unfortunately it was not enough to hold off a terrific performance from Harvard as the Big Green finished second to the Crimson, nine strokes off the pace, in the 17-team field. Harvard won the event for the third straight year.
Sophomore Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) once again led Dartmouth by shooting another 75 (+3), finishing the tournament in third among the individuals, two strokes off the pace. Siena's Katelynn Mannix won a playoff against Harvard's Christine Cho to win the medalist honors at four-over par.
Also placing among the top 10 for the Big Green was senior Lauren Strickler (Akron, Ohio), who followed up a 75 yesterday with an 80 to finish at 11-over par in a tie for ninth place.
Freshman Nicole Paton (London, England), like Gulemi, equaled her score from the first day, posting a seven-over 79 to place 17th overall at 14-over par. Rounding out the squad were senior Tory Sheppard (Fishers, Ind.) who had an 83 (+11) today and tied for 32nd overall at 19-over, and freshman Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) tied for 40th 20-over par.
Brown gave the Ivy League the top three finishers at the invitational, four strokes behind the Big Green.
Dartmouth will tee it up again next weekend at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday in the two-day event.
