ITHACA, N.Y. - The Dartmouth (7-7, 3-1 Ivy) women's volleyball team's three-straight Ivy League victories was snapped by Cornell as the Big Red defeated the Big Green, 3-1 on Saturday at Newman Arena. Cornell jumped out to a two-set lead and then
fought back from a seven-point deficit in the fourth for the victory. The Big Red won sets
one and two, 25-17 and 25-22, respectively, before Dartmouth bounced back in the third
set, 25-22. In the final and deciding set, Cornell (5-10, 2-2 Ivy) earned a 26-24
victory.
The Big Green was led again by sophomore Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) for the second straight game with a double-double. Baird had 18 kills and 15 digs. Senior co-captain Megan MacGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) added 10 kills along with nine digs and one block.
Kendall Houston (Houston, Texas) (22 assists) and Brianne Hucek (Joliet, Ill.) (15 assists) split the setting duties, while Amber Bryant (Libertyville, Ill.) (25 digs) and Jessie Hartman (Woodside, Calif.) (18 digs) split time at libero.
"We got very good bench support today which was awesome considering how long our match the night before went," said head coach Ann Marie Larese. "Everyone was really flexible and made adjustments but honestly we just didn't win the big points when we needed them. We didn't take care of the ball and that was the big difference."
Dartmouth will be at home next weekend taking on Penn and Princeton, Friday (7:00 pm) and Saturday (4:00 pm).
