HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's hockey team is looking to extend its win streak with a victory over non-conference foe, Sacred Heart on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 4:00 pm. The game will feature a toy drive for CHaD as the Big Green will be taking the toys to the hospital next week. It will also be a military appreciation and Dartmouth faculty/staff game.
THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
The Dartmouth men's hockey team looks to extend it's winning streak with a non-conference victory over Sacred Heart. It will be the only contest this season against an Atlantic Hockey foe.
SERIES HISTORY
Dartmouth and Sacred Heart have met just two other times prior to today's contest. The series began with a 4-2 Big Green victory on Jan. 20, 2006 with the last meeting between the two coming on Jan. 20, 2007. Dartmouth walked away with a 4-3 win from that game.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart comes into Thompson Arena having lost seven of its last eight contests, including dropping a pair recently to league foe Army. The Pioneers currently have a 3-9-2 overall record, 2-6-1 in the Atlantic Hockey League. The team is led by four seniors in scoring as Dave Jarman is the top point-getter with 15 but Nick Johnson is not far behind with 14. Erik Boisvert and Paul Ferraro are tied with nine points apiece. Jarman is the top playmaker with 11 assists with Johnson scoring the most goals with nine.
In net freshman Steven Legatto has played in 10 games while junior Olivier St. Onge has appeared in seven games. Legatto has gotten two wins as St. Onge has gotten the third. Legatto has a 4.24 GAA and an .883 save percentage while St. Onge has recorded a 3.64 GAA and an .877 save percentage.
NEXT UP
Dartmouth will take to the road on Dec. 19 for a matchup with twin-state rival, Vermont. Game time at Gutterson Fieldhouse is slated for 4:00 pm.
LAST GAME
Dartmouth won its second game of the season with a 4-2 victory over Providence on Nov. 27. The Big Green tallied two goals in the second and two in the third. Scott Fleming was a three-point scorer while senior Josh Gillam recorded his first point of the season, getting the game winning goal early in the third period.
Against Harvard on Nov. 29, Dartmouth potted its most goals this season with a 6-2 win over the Crimson. The victory was the Big Green's first in Cambridge since the 1995-96 season. Scott Fleming and Adam Estoclet both had a three-point game as Fleming notched two goals and an assist and Estoclet had a goal and two assists. Evan Stephens had the game winner midway through the second period.

FIRST IN AWHILE
Dartmouth's win at Harvard on Nov. 29 was the Big Green's first in Cambridge since the 1995-96 season. It's just the fifth time a Coach Gaudet squad has defeated the Crimson.
TOP SCORERS
Juniors Scott Fleming and Adam Estoclet have become the Big Green's top point getters as each currently has 10 points. Fleming is the top goal scorer with seven while Estoclet is the top play maker with eight assists.
JUST ONE MORE LINE
Dartmouth's top line seems to have worked itself out as freshman Dustin Walsh and senior Joe Gaudet have anchored sophomore center Doug Jones on the top line. But the Big Green's second line seems to have also come into focus as juniors Scott Fleming, Adam Estoclet and Matt Reber have teamed up for the last three games, scoring 17 points.
STREAKING
Dartmouth currently has four players on a scoring streak as Scott Fleming and Adam Estoclet are each on a three-game streak. Josh Gillam and Matt Reber have each scored in the last two Big Green games. Fleming has notched seven points during his streak, Estoclet five points, Reber, four and Gillam, two.
SHOOTING OUT THE LIGHTS
Dartmouth has outshot all but four of its opponents already this season with 40 or more shots coming against Harvard (twice), Colgate and St. Lawrence.
TOP OF THE SCORING HEAP
Juniors Adam Estoclet and Scott Fleming along with senior Joe Gaudet currently lead the team in scoring with five points. Junior Scott Fleming is not far behind with four points. Estoclet is the top playmaker with four assists while Fleming, Gaudet and rookie Dustin Walsh have scored the most goals with three.
OFFENSIVE DEFENSE
Defenseman Evan Stephens has been Dartmouth's top scoring blueliner for the past two seasons. Stephens has already racked up five points this season while Peter Boldt has four points, Joe Stesjkal and Jim Gaudet each have one.
NICE TO MEET YOU
Dustin Walsh is the only freshman to have played in all nine games this season. Several of his classmates have seen some considerable time as well as Mark Goggin has played in seven games, Alex Goodship in four, Mike Keenan in seven and Jason Bourgea in eight.
THE SECOND'S THE BEST
Dartmouth has enjoyed playing the second period this season as the Big Green has scored most of its points in that frame. Dartmouth has potted 28 of its 64 points in the second period alone.
INJURY UPDATE
Defenseman Mike Keenan has been lost for the season due to an injury he suffered in practice prior to the Providence game on Nov. 27.
MATTER OF TIME
Rob Smith had the first goal of the season at 2:43 of the first period on Oct. 30. That's also the earliest the Big Green has scored this season. The latest goal was Josh Gillams strike at 18:06 on Nov. 29 against Harvard.
WELCOME BACK
With the first goal of the game against Harvard, senior Rob Smith was officially welcomed back. Smith suffered a season-ending injury in 2008-09, just two games into the year.
COLLEGIATE FIRSTS
Rookies Dustin Walsh and Mark Goggin each collected their first collegiate goals against Colgate on Nov. 7. Walsh scored first in the second period before Goggin's tally tied the game in that same frame. Alex Goodship recorded his first collegiate point with an assist in a win over Harvard on Nov. 29.
NOT SPECIAL YET
The offensive side of the special teams game has not been favorable for Dartmouth yet this season. The Big Green has eight power play goals in 47 attempts. On the other hand the Big Green has been able to kill 35 of its opponents 46 power play attempts for a .761 percent. Dartmouth has held three of its opponents (Princeton, Clarkson, Providence) scoreless on the extra-man attempt.
BIG GREEN BROTHERS
Dartmouth will have three sets of brothers dotting the roster this season. Senior Joe Gaudet welcomed younger brother Jim last year. In 2009-10 older brothers Connor Goggin and Nick Walsh will welcome younger siblings Mark and Dustin.
JODY OH
Last season, goalie Jody O'Neill was named both the Ivy League and the ECAC's Rookie of the year. The first time Dartmouth has had a player earn both honors since Hugh Jessiman in 2003.
EXHIBITION OPENERS
Dartmouth made its first appearance on Thompson Arena ice on Oct. 24 against McGill University in an exhibition. McGill skated away with a 7-4 victory as junior Adam Estoclet potted two goals while freshmen Mike Keenan and Mark Goggin scored the other two.
SEASON OPENERS
Dartmouth opened up the 2009-10 season in the friendly confines of Thompson Arena. Despite scoring the first goal of the game, Harvard came back to take the opening season victory. Dartmouth is now 67-31-3 in home openers and is 31-22-2 when opening up on the road. Under the tutelage of Bob Gaudet, the Big Green has gone 6-7 in the first game of the year.
HARVARD 10/30/09
Dartmouth got on the board first off a goal by Rob Smith before Harvard tied the game in the second and potted four more before the Big Green's Adam Estoclet and Joe Gaudet tried to make it game.
CORNELL 11/6/09
The Big Red potted single goals in the first and second periods before blanking the Big Green with two more to start the third. Dartmouth's Peter Boldt got his team on the board in the third.
COLGATE 11/7/09
The Raiders scored two goals in the second before two Big Green rookies tied the score as Dustin Walsh and Mark Goggin recorded their collegiate firsts. Colgate was able to break the tie with the game winner toward the end of the game.
PROVIDENCE 11/27
Dartmouth scored two goals in the second and two more in the third to ice a 4-2 victory over Providence in the Big Green's first non-conference win of the season. Scott Fleming scored twice while Josh Gillam and Matt Reber had the other two goals. Jody O'Neill recorded 45 saves picking up the win.
HARVARD 11/29
With two goals in each of the three periods, Dartmouth put up the highest number of points in a game this season, drubbing Harvard, 6-2. Scoring was spread out as Scott Fleming had two goals while Dustin Walsh, Evan Stephens, Adam Estoclet and Josh Gillam each chipped in one. The win was Dartmouth's first at Harvard since 1995-96.
CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
Senior defenseman Peter Boldt is the 2009-10 Big Green captain. He will be the 118th captain in Dartmouth men's hockey history. Classmate Joe Gaudet and junior Scott Fleming will serve as assistant captains.
NHL HOPEFULS
Dartmouth has four players currently on its roster that were drafted by NHL teams in the entry draft. Sophomores Troy Mattila and Joe Stejskal were both taken before coming to Dartmouth while Mark Goggin was drafted in 2008 and Dustin Walsh in 2009.
NHL PIPELINE
Four former Big Green players began the 2009-10 NHL season on one of the league's 30 rosters. While Dartmouth has nine total that are currently in the NHL system.
WELCOME ABOARD
Dartmouth welcomes six freshmen to the roster this season, as four forwards, one defenseman and a goalie join the Big Green. Two members of the group have already been drafted by an NHL team as Mark Goggin was taken by Boston in 2008 and Dustin Walsh was drafted by Montreal in 2009.
