HANOVER, N.H. - Led by senior Emily Daly (Hopkinton, Mass.), who set a new Dartmouth record in the weight throw, the Big Green women's track and field team defeated New Hampshire, Vermont, and Quinnipiac at Leverone Field House with 66 total points.
UNH finished in second place with 60 points, while UVM and Quinnipiac rounded out the meet. The Big Green won four events in the meet.
Daly set a new Dartmouth record in the weight throw of 17.94-meters (58' 10 1/4”). Jamila Smith held the previous record of 57' 8”.
Daly also won the shot put with a distance of 13.64-meters (44' 9”). Teammate Christina Alexander (Austin, Texas) finished in third place in the shot put with a throw of 12.68-meters (41' 7 1/4”).
Sophomore Alexandra Tanner (Baltimore, Md.) crossed the finish line first for the Green in the 400-meter with a time of 59.12 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team ran their best time of the season, winning the event in 3:57.73.
Senior Caitlin Cunningham (Simsbury, Mass.) qualified for the ECAC Championships by finishing the 1000-meter in 2:56.26, which was enough for second place.
Freshman Elizabeth Short (North Reading, Mass.) cut over 10 seconds off her personal-best in the 1-mile race, coming in second place with a time of 5:05.73.
Junior Natalie Stoll (Portland, Ore.) and sophomore Kaleigh Wood (Shortsville, N.Y.) finished second and third, respectively, in the 500-meter. Stoll (1:18) fell to Vermont's Kailey Jasper by .35 seconds while Wood ran a time of 1:18.84.
Senior Marcy Van Arnam (Syracuse, N.Y.) ran 2:19.98 in the 800-meter, 1.01 seconds short of Allison Letourneau of UNH to finish in second place.
The next meet for the women's team will be the Valentine Invitational February 13 and 14 in Boston, Mass.
