CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Dartmouth men's track and field team closed out the 2009 Indoor Heptagonal Championships on Sunday as the Big Green took home eighth place with 18 points.
Cornell took home the men's title with 176.5 points, while Princeton finished in second with 121.5 points.
The highlight of day two came from senior Tim Wunderlich (Westminster, Md.), who took home third place in the heptathlon scoring 4976 points. He finished in the top spot in the shot put with a toss of 13.99 meters (45-10.75) and took second in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.86 meters (6-01.25).
Another highlight came from junior Muhammed Abdul-Shakoor (Stone Mountian, Ga.), who crossed the line in the third position in the 60m dash with a time of 6.96, which qualified him for the IC4A meet and gave Dartmouth six team points. Senior Julian Thomas (San Antonio, Texas) got the Big Green one point by finishing in third in the second section of the 400m dash. He finished the race with a time of 49.17, which also qualified him for the IC4A meet.
Junior Ted Lesher (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) also got one point towards Dartmouth's total with a sixth-place finish in the 60m hurdles. He crossed the line at 8.38.
The Big Green will head to the IC4A meet in Boston next weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
