SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Dartmouth softball team lost its first game in California on its spring trip. The Big Green dropped an 8-0, five-inning contest to Colorado State on Thursday. Dartmouth opens up play at the Capital City Classic on Friday.
Ashley Gleason (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Audrey Kolodziej (Morton Grove, Ill.) were the only two to notch hits for the Big Green as Ram freshman pitcher Dani Chaplin got the win by throwing all five innings, allowing just the two hits while striking out five.
Hillary Barker (Duvall, Wash.) started in the circle for Dartmouth, pitching innings one through three when reliever Kat Hicks (Templeton, Calif.) came on to pitch the last two. Each gave up four runs to CSU.
The Big Green opens up play at the Capital City Classic at Sacramento State on Friday with a two games schedules. Dartmouth will play UNLV first at noon before taking on Colorado State in a rematch slated for 4:00.
