The Dartmouth Ski Team Completes its EISA Season Undefeated

SUGARLOAF, Maine - After the postponement of Saturday's giant slalom competition in the final carnival hosted by Colby College, the Dartmouth ski team hit the slopes with enough force on Sunday to hold onto its lead from the previous days. The Big Green won the competition with an incredible 961.5 points, crushing the University of Vermont was was in second place with 793 points and Middlebury College in third with 732.5 points; this leaves Dartmouth completely undefeated on the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) circuit for the season.

Dartmouth sophomore Courtney Hammond won the women's giant slalom event with a time of 1:52.83, making this her 9th EISA victory this season. Second place went to Lyndee Janowiak of UVM, and Dartmouth sophomore Kelsey Roddick completed the podium in 3rd place. Freshman Erin Fucigna finished in 14th place followed by freshman teammate Corrinne Rotter who placed 27th.

David Donaldson of UVM won the men's giant slalom competition in 1:46.94, just ahead of two University of New Hampshire skiers, Sean McNamara in second, and
Michael Cremeno in third. Freshman Trevor Leafe was the first finisher for the Big Green in 9th place, followed by freshman Luke McLaughry in 10th. Sophomore
Ace Tarberry placed 15th, and senior Charly Ligety took 22nd.

With all of the EISA races complete, racers now have a short respite until the NCAA Championships, which will be hosted by Bates College on March 11-14 in Rumford, Maine. Dartmouth plans to send three athletes from each of its four ski teams-the maximum allowed-to compete in the event.
