HANOVER, N.H. ? A total of 11 Dartmouth skiers have earned All-America honors for their performances on the snow and in the classroom.
At the 2009 NCAA Men's and Women's Skiing Championships March 11-14, skiers for the Big Green's Alpine and cross country teams were named to the All-America team for their results in the Championships. Sophomore
Courtney Hammond earned the status for two top-10 finishes in Alpine, taking sixth in the giant slalom and sixth in the slalom. In cross country, sophomore Rosie Brennan was Dartmouth's top finisher, taking third in the women's 15-kilometer freestyle race and
fourth in the 10-kilometer classical technique race. Joining Brennan were freshman
Sophie Caldwell, with a fifth-place finish in freestyle and a ninth-place finish in classical; senior
Hannah Dreissigacker, 10th in freestyle; and junior
Patrick O'Brien, who finished seventh in the men's 20-kilometer freestyle.
Prior to the Championships competition, Hammond, Dreissigacker, and O'Brien were honored as Academic All-Americas. Joining them were freshmen
Stephanie Crocker,
Eric Packer, and
Erika Flowers; sophomore
Ida Sargent; and juniors
Hayley Jones and
Francis Fortin-Houle. All nine have grade-point averages of 3.5 or better.
Dartmouth finished seventh in the overall team standings at the NCAA Championships, held in Bethel, Maine.
