PRINCETON, N.J. - The Dartmouth men's tennis team got wins from sophomore Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) and freshman Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) but it wasn't enough as Princeton came away with a 5-2 win over the Big Green.
Dartmouth (4-14, 0-4 Ivy) opened the match by dropping the doubles point. Junior Dan Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.) and sophomore Stephen Greif (San Antonio, Texas) fell in the opening doubles match with an 8-5 loss. Roby and senior captain Ari Gayer (Hollis, N.Y.) earned the Big Green's lone doubles win with a commanding 8-2 win over Princeton's Ryan Kim and Ilya Trubov. The point came down to the third match and freshman Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) and junior Justin Tzou (Cupertino, Calif.) lost the match to George Carpeni and Yohei Shoji by the score of 8-3.
In singles, Freeman and Greif dropped their matches at No. 1 and 2 with Greif going three sets after evening the match with a win in the second set. Roby got Dartmouth back into the game with a win at No. 3 over Carpeni, 6-1,3-6, 6-3. However, the Tigers took the next two matches and Laser got the Big Green's second point with a 6-2, 6-3, straight-set win.
Dartmouth will be back on the courts this coming Friday at 3 p.m. at the Boss Tennis Center.
