BALTIMORE, Md. ? Dartmouth incoming freshmen Courtney Bennett (Darien, Conn.) and
Kelsey Johnson (Hingham, Mass.) are among just 46 high school student-athletes in the country to be named to the 2009 Under Armour High School All-America North and South teams.
Bennett and Johnson are two of the 22 women on the North Team that will take on the South Team on Saturday June 27 at the fourth annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium.
Four Ivy schools have recruits on the All-America team, with Dartmouth and Princeton as the only programs to boast multiple honorees.
Bennett, who will join older sister
Eliza Bennett in a Dartmouth uniform next season, just led Darien to its fourth-straight FCIAC Championship with a 10-9 win over New Canaan in the conference title tilt. Her team has posted a 15-2 record thus far, going undefeated in conference play and against all Connecticut state opponents heading into the state tournament.
Johnson has wrapped up her senior year at Thayer Academy where she was once again named a NEPSAC All-Star and to the All-ISL team. She paced Thayer to a second place finish in the Independent Schools League this spring. As a junior, Johnson picked up US Lacrosse All-America first team accolades as well.
Current Dartmouth freshmen
Erin Massimi (Westwood, Mass.) and
Sarah Plumb (Wellesley, Mass.) were both named to the UA All-America squad in 2008.
