Corvalis, Ore. - The Dartmouth women's soccer team took a 2-0 loss at the hands of a streaking Oregon State squad, which won its sixth-straight tonight against the Big Green.
In its opening game at the Nike Oregon State Invitational, Dartmouth drops to 3-2 overall while Oregon State improves to 6-1.
The Beavers jumped on the Big Green with 18 shots on the night to Dartmouth's seven.
Junior Melisa Krnjaic (Washington, D.C.) had the game's first scoring threat when she forced OSU goalkeeper Colleen Boyd to make a save in just the fifth minute. However, Oregon State got on the board first when Melinda Ingalls scored off a right side cross from Rachael Axon in the eighth minute of play.
Despite trailing, Dartmouth buckled down and kept the Beavers at bay for the rest of the first half and much of the second. Sophomore goalkeeper Colleen Hogan (Houston, Texas) finished with five saves in goal. The Beavers managed to add an insurance goal in the 84th minute when Melissa Peck redirected a header from Ingalls past Hogan for the 2-0 lead.
Ali Hubbard (Marshfield, Mass.) led all Dartmouth players with three shots on the night.
The Big Green faces another Pac-10 squad in Oregon on Sunday at 11 a.m. Pacific, 2 p.m. Eastern.
