Former Dartmouth QB Mann Hired to Football Staff

HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth football head coach Buddy Teevens today announced the hiring of former Big Green quarterback Brian Mann '02 to his staff as the Director of Football Operations. In this role Mann will oversee all administrative functions of the football office and work closely with football alumni and others to coordinate activities of the Friends of Dartmouth Football.

For the past two and a half years, Mann has worked in the marketing and business world, most recently with The Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C. Through this company, he developed and executed strategic plans for marketing best practice research to hospitals across the country and built relationships with senior hospital executives, negotiating contracts directly with them. Mann also served as the Manager of Business Development for Tefen USA in New York for one year, establishing and managing client relationships through project management initiatives.

Mann has kept his hand in football as well, working the past two autumns for the New England Sports Network (NESN) as a broadcaster at FCS football games, ranging from sideline reporter to analyst from the booth.

After graduating from Dartmouth in December 2002 with a degree in history, Mann signed on as a quarterback in the Arena Football League with the Los Angeles Avengers for four seasons, winning the Special Teams Player of the Year in 2006. He also served as an assistant player representative and liaison between the AFL Player's Association and the team with the responsibility of communicating union initiatives, and league rule and regulation changes as they occurred.

In addition, Mann got a taste of Hollywood as an actor/stunt double while in Los Angeles. He served as Adam Sandler's stunt double in the remake of “The Longest Yard,” and played quarterbacks in the film “Invincible” starring Mark Wahlberg and “The Game Plan” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“Brian's various professional positions have enabled him to develop an outstanding set of skills that will benefit our football program in many ways,” Coach Teevens stated. “His experience with business development, marketing, strategic planning and football, along with his passion for Dartmouth, make him uniquely qualified to take on this important role.”

Mann set the Dartmouth single-season record for passing yards with 2,913 in 2002 while completing nearly 60 percent of his passes and tossing 19 touchdowns. His 5,912 career passing yards are second on the Big Green all-time list, behind only Jay Fiedler '94 (6,684) who spent nine seasons in the NFL.

Mann will begin his duties with the team on Oct. 4.
