WEST POINT, N.Y. - On the road against an inspired Army squad, the Dartmouth men's tennis team came away with a tough doubles point with a tie break victory at the top spot to set the stage for 6-1 win.
Junior Eric Schlobohm (Moraga, Calif.) and freshman Kevin Cox (Anaheim, Calif.) dropped the No. 2 doubles match, while sophomore Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) and freshman Alex de Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif.) won at No. 3. It all came down to senior Dan Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.) and sophomore Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) at the top spot. The match went to a tie break with the Big Green winning the break by a score of 11-9 to win the match, 9-8, and take the doubles point.
In singles, junior Stephen Grief (San Antonio, Texas), freshman Xander Centenari (Towson, Md.) and Ho all won straight-set matches to clinch the victory. Up 4-0, but having lost all the other first sets in the other matches, the Big Green fought back and won two out of three remaining matches.
