BOLTON, Mass. — The Dartmouth women's golf team rebounded from a disappointing first round to shoot a 314 (+26) — a 26-stroke improvement — on the second and final day of action at the Harvard Invitational on Sunday. With the strong showing, the Big Green were able to surpass Columbia to finish sixth among the seven Ivy teams.
Freshman
Sarah Knapp (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) posted the low round for Dartmouth again, firing the second-lowest score of the day among all competitors with a one-over 73. Combined with her 78 (+6) on Saturday, Knapp carded a 151 (+7) to place sixth, just three strokes out of second place.
Yale's Seo Hee Moon ran away with medalist honors, tearing up the course with a six-under 66 — an unofficial course record at The International Golf Course — to finish with a 140 (-4) and lead the Bulldogs to the team title as well. The 66 was also the lowest round of her career and included a hole-in-one, which helped fend off host Harvard, which came in second with a team score of 611, two strokes behind Yale.
Every Big Green golfer shaved at least three strokes off their first-round score on Sunday, with junior
Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) improving by 10 strokes with a 78 (+6) to tie for 24th at 16-over par. Sophomore
Colleen Carroll (Bettendorf, Iowa) bested her initial round by seven strokes and finished in 26th place, while senior
Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) and sophomore
Julie Campbell (Bozeman, Mont.) completed the two rounds in a tie for 31st with a 171 (+27). Competing as an individual was junior
Kathleen Quirk (Kansas City, Mo.), who carded a 172 (+28).
This tournament concludes the fall schedule for Dartmouth. The team will return to the course in the spring.
