NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Dartmouth men's tennis team clinched victory in singles play against St. John's with a 4-2 win in the final match of the ECAC Indoor Championships for the Big Green.
Senior Dan Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.) led the way with an impressive straight-set win at the No. 1 slot, 6-5, 7-6. Junior captain Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) each earned a win to put the Green up 3-2. Senior captain Jeff Friedman (Westport, Conn.) clinched the match with a clutch tie-break win at the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 7-6.
Being the last match of the day, the singles competition was played ahead of the doubles. With Dartmouth holding a 4-2 advantage with only one doubles point up for grabs, the match was stopped.
The Big Green will be back in action on Feb. 23 as Dartmouth travels to Boston College.
