SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — Dartmouth junior captain Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) carded the best round of the day for the Big Green at the Ivy League Women's Golf Championships held on the Upper Course at Baltusrol Golf Course today, scoring an 82 (+10) for the 18 holes. As a team Dartmouth posted a 339 and is in seventh place after the first two rounds with a 676 (+100).
For the second straight day, Penn had the low team score to hold on to the top spot in the standings. The Quakers shot a 308 — six strokes better than the first round — giving them a 622 (+46) and opening up an eight-stroke lead over favored Harvard. Penn's Tiffany Cheung and Isabel Han are tied for the lead at nine-over par.
While Gulemi was 10-over par today, freshman Julie Campbell (Bozeman, Mont.) is still the low scorer in the tournament for the Big Green, following up her best round of the year yesterday at seven-over par with an 83 (+11) today. She birdied the first hole today, but struggled around the turn with a pair of double bogeys on the ninth and 10th holes. Campbell will enter the final day of play in a tie for 13th place, while Gulemi is tied for 18th, four strokes behind Campbell.
Also competing for the Big Green were sophomores Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) and Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) with 87s today, and freshman Colleen Carroll (Bettendorf, Iowa) with an 89 (+17). Smith sits in 31st place with a 173, Roland is 33rd with a 175 and Carroll is 34th with a 177.
Dartmouth will be paired up with Columbia in the final round tomorrow, and Carroll will be the first to tee off at 10:30 a.m.
