SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — In the rain and the cold, Dartmouth completed the Ivy League Women's Golf Championships held on the upper course at Baltusrol Golf Course in seventh place after shooting a 345 (+57) on Sunday. For the tournament, the Big Green finished up with a 1021 (+157) while Penn won its first-ever team title with a 929 (+65).
The Quakers finished 22 strokes ahead of second-place Yale in the team standings, but the Bulldogs' Alyssa Roland squeaked out medalist honors by one stroke as she posted the best round of the day with a 73 (+1), edging Penn's Isabel Han.
Both sophomore Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) and freshman Colleen Carroll (Bettendorf, Iowa) carded their best rounds of the tournament on Sunday. Roland shot a team-low 83 (+11) to finish the championships in 29th place with a 258 (+42), while Carroll had an 87 (+15) — registering the only two birdies on the day for the Big Green — to complete her first championships in 34th with a 264 (+48).
Dartmouth's low scorer for the three rounds was freshman Julie Campbell (Bozeman, Mont.), who was also the only Big Green golfer to break 80 in any of the three rounds. Her 88 (+16) today left her with a 250 (+34) for the tournament to finish 21st.
Junior captain Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) carded an 89 (+17) today and had a three-round total of 255 (+39) to place 25th. The other Big Green golfer was sophomore Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) who posted an 87 (+15) on Sunday and tied for 31st with a 260 (+44).
