Women Post Record Round at Yale Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth began the three-round Yale Invitational on Saturday with a 305 (+17), its lowest round ever, as the Big Green also tied the best mark for a two-round total of 625 (+49) after the first day of competition. Freshman Sarah Knapp (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) carded the low score of the day for Dartmouth with a 77-76—153 (+9) to tie for 19th with one round remaining.

The best 18-hole score for the Big Green came from junior co-captain Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.), however, with a one-over 73 in the first round of play. An 82 (+10) in the second round left her two strokes behind her rookie teammate Knapp at 11-over par.

Senior Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) posted a four-over 76 in the opening round, while sophomore Julie Campbell (Bozeman, Mont.) had a seven-over 79 to complete the team's record-setting performance.

The final round will take place beginning tomorrow morning with Dartmouth sitting in ninth place in the 14-team field. Yale is playing the role of rude host with a six-stroke edge on Penn to take the lead into tomorrow's play.
