BOSTON, MASS. — The Dartmouth women's track and field team competed at the Valentine Invitational on Friday and Saturday hosted by Boston University. The Big Green had multiple placers and freshman Monica Adler (Manchester, Mass.) set a new school record.
In the 1000 meter, Adler finished third with a time of 249.41, which set a new Dartmouth school record. It bested the previous mark of 2:49.56 set by Jessie Allen-Young '03. Adler also qualified for the ECAC's with the mark. In the 800 meter, junior Christina Supino (Windham, N.H.) finished fifth with a time of 2:08.05. It was the second fastest time ever run by a Big Green athlete. The top time is 2:07.86 by Kristin Manwaring '96. Freshman Janae Dunchack (Northern Cambria, Pa.) had a time of 25.87 in the 200, which tied for the eighth-best mark in Dartmouth history.
In the women's distance medley relay, the Big Green took the top spot. The quartet of Adler, senior Alexandra Tanner (Baltimore, Md.), junior Christina Supino (Windham, N.H.), and Arianna Vailas (Manchester, N.H.) finished with a time of 11:29.69. Top-seeded North Carolina State finished second at 11:38.18.
Tanner finished fourth in the 500 meter with a time of 1:15.31. Sophomore Caroline Buck (Winter Park, Fla.) took eighth in the event at 1:16.85. In the 4x400 relay, the team of senior Kaleigh Wood (Shortsville, N.Y.), freshman Megan Krumpoch (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Supino and Tanner took third with a time of 3:50.38. In the pole vault, sophomore Karla Verkouw (Lancaster, Pa.) finished in third with a mark of 3.50 meters (11-05.75 feet).
The Big Green next compete at the USATF New England Championship on Feb. 20.
