HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's track and field team hosted the Dartmouth Classic on Saturday, and the Big Green won six events at the meet.
In the sprinting events, Dartmouth thrived with multiple athletes finishing in the top two. In the 60-meter dash, freshman Janae Dunchack (Northern Cambria, Pa.) took second with a time of 7.94. In the 200-meter dash, freshman Megan Krumpoch (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished with the top time of 26.49. She also placed second in the 400 at 57.73. Senior Alexandra Tanner (Baltimore, Md.) won the 400 at 56.46. In the hurdles, the Big Green took the top two spots. Sophomore Olivia Durr (Boyds, Md.) finished first at 9.16, and sophomore Cassandra Ryding (Westford, Mass.) took second at 9.24.
Sophomore Caroline Buck (Winter Park, Fla.) crossed the finish line second in the 500 at 1:17.17. In the mid-distance events, sophomore Christine Bub (Strykersville, N.Y.) finished second at 2:21.15. Freshman Claire Arthur (Lincoln, Mass.) took second in the 1000 at 3:03.24.
In the field events, Dunchack earned the top spot in the high jump at 1.73 meters (5-08.00 feet). In the triple jump, sophomore Joy Piotrowski (Aiea, Hawaii) finished with the best mark of 11.20 meters (36-09.00 feet). Senior Christina Alexander (Austin, Texas) took the top spot in the shot put at 12.58 meters (41-03.25 feet), and freshman Amanda Spoto (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished second at 12.28 meters (40-03.50 feet).
The Big Green next compete at the Valentine's Invitational in Boston, Mass. on Feb. 11-12.
