CLEARWATER, FLA. — The Dartmouth softball team played its second and third games of its Spring Break trip on Friday and lost both contests. The Big Green lost to Florida A&M, 6-5, and lost to Florida Gulf Coast, 6-0. The games were the first Dartmouth played at the University of South Florida's The Game Tournament and the losses dropped the Big Green to 3-5 overall. The win improved FGCU to 15-16.
In the game against the Rattlers, Molly Khalil (Seal Beach, Calif.) hit a home run and Hillary Barker (Duvall, Wash.) threw nine innings and took the loss.
In its second game of the evening for Dartmouth, the Eagles used five runs in the bottom of the second inning to jump out to an early lead. FGCU added a run in the fifth to gain a 6-0 advantage. Dartmouth had five hits in the contest. Sophomore Evan Gray (Edmond, Okla.) took the loss for the Big Green after giving up six runs in four innings.
Dartmouth takes on Jacksonville and Quinnipiac on Saturday at the tournament.
