MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Dartmouth women's outdoor track and field team opened its season this weekend at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Big Green did not send their full squad, but had multiple athletes place in the top 10.
In the running events, Dartmouth had its best performance in the 400 meters. Senior Alex Tanner (Baltimore, Md.) took fourth place at 57.45 and freshman Megan Krumpoch (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished fifth at 57.63. In the 100 hurdles, sophomore Olivia Durr (Boyds, Md.) crossed the finish line ninth at 14.97. Tanner also placed 17th in the 200 at 25.45, which marked the third-best time in the history of the program.
The Big Green achieved a lot of success in the field events. In the shot put, senior Christina Alexander (Austin, Texas) took fifth in the shot put at 12.68 meters (41-07.25 feet) and freshman Corinne Kominkiewicz (East Brunswick, N.J.) placed sixth with a throw of 12.56 meters (41-02.50 feet). Kominkiewicz also placed seventh in the discus at 43.27 meters (141-11.00 feet). In the hammer throw invitational, Alexander had a throw of 46.09 meters (151-02.00 feet), which placed her seventh.
Junior Priscilla Trojano (West Bridgewater, Mass.) finished sixth in the heptathlon with 4,309 points. In the high jump invitational, freshman Janae Dunchack (Northern Cambria, Pa.) finished in a tie for eighth with a jump of 1.65 meters (5-05.00 feet). Senior Malina Simmers (Anchorage, Alaska) placed eighth in the triple jump at 11.61 meters (38.01.25 feet).
Dartmouth next competes at the Raleigh Relays on Friday, March 25.
