Weather Wreaks Havoc With Final Round at Columbia

SUFFERN, N.Y. — Rain and strong winds shortened the second and final round of the Roar-EE Invitational to just nine holes on Saturday as Dartmouth finished in ninth place out of the 13 participating teams. Freshman Sarah Knapp (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) carded a 41 (+5) to lead the Big Green squad, tying for 11th overall at 11-over par.

Penn and the first-round leader, Fairleigh-Dickinson, shared the team title at 33-over par, while host Columbia came in third eight strokes back.

Many of yesterday's leaders found the worsening conditions to be difficult to play in, including Lehigh's Crystal Lee. She was the only participant to shoot under par on Friday, yet shot 12-over par in the nine holes today to fall back into a tie for seventh. Claiming medalist honors was the Lions' Michelle Piyapattra with a 112 (+4).

Dartmouth's second lowest scorer for the tournament was senior Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) with a 124 (+16) to tie for 31st. Junior Heather Roland tied for 43rd at 20-over par, while junior Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) and sophomore Colleen Carroll tied for 54th at 27-over.

In addition, sophomore Julie Campbell (Bozeman, Mont.) competed as an individual and fared well at 14-over par to tie for 18th.

Next weekend brings the Ivy Championships held at the Atlantic City Country Club, beginning on Friday, April 22.
